Brouillon du Beau (Drafts of Beauty)
Qu’est que le travail aujourd’hui ? les métiers changent et les gestes qui les accompagnent avec. Brouillon du beau tente d’agir comme un miroir : elle réfléchit notre condition dans ces temps de transition en donnant à voir la question de la finitude d’un métier, sa disparition. Ce questionnement nous est commun, il part de l’ouvrier, du travailleur ou de l’artisan vers l’individu dans un sens plus large.
Lors de mon premier séjour en Inde j’ai visité les ateliers de fabrications de sari et au delà de cette répétition quasi mécanique du motif, j’ai été fascinée par leur rigueur et j’ai l’image de longue table qu’ils parcourent de long en large. Le long tissus blanc sur cette table devient porteur d’un condensé de traces, un palimpseste. J’ai donc choisi de montrer cette trace en la recomposant. J’extrais des fragments et les assemble pour donner à voir Un Brouillon du beau. During my first visit to India, I visited the sari workshops and beyond this almost mechanical repetition of the pattern, I was fascinated by their rigor and I have the image of a long table that they go through from one end to the other, this table and its long white fabrics become carriers of a condensed trace, a palimpsest.
So I chose to show this trace by recomposing it, extract fragments and assemble them to give to see Un Brouillon du beau, a draft of beauty, recompose the trace to make work, the fragments in Brouillon du beau are now small units of La dernière trace ready to be moved to change the composition or to look for the tipping point from the draft to the composition: to what holds it. This is an attempt to show you my work, to include you in a part of the process that of the stage that separate the fragment from the work: to seek what is composing. What does work: when the work becomes a work of art. |
